All,
Wondering if any of you taller (6'4" here and mostly legs) drivers have done any successful modifications to your drivers seat to squeeze out a bit more legroom. When I got my e39, there was a clip that acted as a limit stop on the travel - I removed that and got another inch of room. The center console in the e39 is also lower and the parking brake handle is in a different location and allows me to lean my knee more towards it. At present, rides over 20 minutes or so in the V70 cause a level of knee discomfort
Part #8 in this diagram might be something to focus on, but I think it might just govern forward travel of the seat.

The rear end of the rods along which the motors act appear to have a second hole in the back just forward of the hole the mounting screw goes through. Not sure how the front is secured and the diagram above doesn't reveal the secret.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Modifications for more legroom

A good way to find an answer is to try at a junkyard. I haven't read of such mod on the S60, but I also miss 2-3in if it was to really stretch my legs like I was doing in a VW Passat (I'm 6'1 with rather long legs). Obviously lowering the seat helps the most here but to stretch the legs on a long trip, the S80 is the actual answer.

Did some investigating this morning. I think I can gain an inch more in the rearward direction if I move the bracket back (will need to move the threaded rod back a bit too. There's about 1/4" of length at the front end of the rod.

Having the seat higher helps much more than lowering it to me. Makes the leg position more relaxed and less sitting on the floor with the legs straight forward.oragex wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 6:29 am A good way to find an answer is to try at a junkyard. I'm 6' with a 36" inseam measured down to the floor when standing and I've got several inches to spare when it comes to seat adjustment. I can't reach the pedals comfortably without stretching if I move the seat all the way back. Perhaps the manual seats can be moved further back?

Agree on the height as well as I think knee angle is critical to avoidance of knee discomfort. More experimentation is necessary. I think I can use the threaded coupler trick on the front up/down adjustment as well. Guess I'm hitting the junkyard this weekend
My e39 doesn't have a "hanging" accelerator like the Volvo does so I can tilt my right foot to the right and get to a comfortable position (this also means tilting my knee to the right which the console in the Volvo prevents me from doing to the extent that I need).

I also agree about the higher the seat, the better the comfort for taller persons. My favorite seats are the ones in some minivans and SUV with rise seats.
That's a good call on manual seats, they may be different

Update: I boosted the front of the seat with some HDPE blocks I fashioned for the purpose. A few weeks later I moved the threaded rods back by using the second unused hole in my first pic. This required that I extend the front end of the threaded rods about an inch. I used a barrel coupler and a like-threaded bolt to accomplish this. I seem to have arrived at a relatively comfortable position for the seat, however on longer highway drives I will use CRUISE and stretch my leg out by putting it between the pedals.
