2001 PNP switch wiring code
I got a PNP from the same year / model as mine from the parts yard. I want to test it before I install it, but I don't have the pin out / wiring code. I tried a search but all I got was sites that want you to join. Could someone post the pin out for me? Thanks.

If Volvo preserved conventions on the bastard 1999 2000 2001 years, try looking for components
3/71 and 24/53

Re: 2001 PNP switch wiring code
I'm looking for the wire colors for the backup light switch part...
I found the switch 3/71 on the automatic transmission page 110, pdf page 118. It looks like A9 and A3 are the Parking lock out for the starter motor. The only other wire that goes out of the transmission is A8, which connects to A12. A8 looks to be a brown wire and A12 looks to be a Green wire. So by elimination these seem to be the two back up light wires. Could anyone verify this?
I want to check the original switch module to make sure it is indeed the switch, then check the replacement to make sure it is good and there is no resistance in teh switch contacts.
Thanks

Re: 2001 PNP switch wiring code
oh well, back to the parts yard. I got the switch with the female connector. My car has the male connector that is part of a clamp on connector assembly...

Re: 2001 PNP switch wiring code
annnd -- trying to cross reference the part. It doesn't show up on a couple of vendors sites with the 9 pin male connector. On ebay, it shows up as s60 only, 2001 -2004. This looks exactly like my switch.. Is it the right one?
Also, since cold weather is setting in here, is it worth it to try to take mine apart and clean it? I mean it's just the back up lights that don't work.
And this explains why the wiring diagram didn't jibe...

Re: 2001 PNP switch wiring code
So does anyone know what two wires are for the backup lights, on this type of PNP switch? Would the wiring and wire colors be the same for the female connector version of this switch? I am considering swapping connectors - too cold here to go to the parts yard.

testing switch in situ from connector
the wiring chart on page 110 shows on the right, a chart " PRNDL SW ENC" that says R is pins A and B.. I really would like to test my switch before I go further.
I THINK the colors are white and yellow, if the illustration of connector 8/37 is correct, which shows connector pins A7 as White (A) and pin A11 as Yellow (B) AmIright?
So looking down on the black and blue connector with the pins up, which ones would those two points be?
