I have a problem with my S60 06 when I put in my keys to the driver door, it does not respond to me turning left or right on the cylinder. And there are other annoyances such as when I push down on the door lock stick, it would go back up and then down again in random intervals for 2-3 seconds until it decides on whether to remain unlocked or not.
So, I am wondering if this is a simple DIY project that I can tackle, or should I take it to a mechanic? And what parts should I be looking for here; a door actuator?

My 2001 X/C70 was doing the same thing. Opened up the door panel and found the rod connecting the cylinder to the module was disconnected. You can find the clips in a parts store to retain the rod and pay attention to where the threaded rod is installed in the lower clips as you can reinstall it at the wrong depth and it may not actuate the module if too short (I marked the threads with a marker before disconnecting it.) Should make sense when you see it.

Take a look at the inside of the door. You may find the lock connector out of place, or part of the plastic that holds the end may have broken and I think Oragex fixed his by drilling a hole into the plastic box and using a zip tie to hold the connector in place.
Lower window.
Remove triangular black plastic"sail panel" at front edge of window. Pulls towards you, away from window.
Remove 6 inch long cover in inside door handle. Try not to scratch it. Can use a knife under the bottom edge to lift it away.
Undo the two Torx screws holding the door handle.
Remove the plastic trim 'buttons' around the door panel by pushing in the center pin by about 1/6" - should click.
Lift off the door panel being aware that there are wires for the tweeter to two plugs for the controls, in addition to the lock connector.
This video shows it in about 4 minutes during a door speaker upgrade.
The door handle/lock connection is shown at 3:47

Most auto parts stores will know what you are looking for if you tell them. There are different types and the originals are just “grommet” style but the ones that have both the grommet for the cylinder end and a “wrap-around” arm that clips to the rod itself could probably work as well.

Hi, I am a newbie and need some advice. I've got a 99 S70 I just swapped an engine into that is kicking out some DTC's. So far I have a P1113, which I believe is the O2 sensor, I also Have all the coilpacks starting at P0351 and ending at P0356 for a total of 6 altogether. I have gone thru a lot of the posts on the site & haven't come up w/ a vacuum hose diagram that I can make sense of. Thanks for all your help, John.

Hi John,
Please start a new thread on your DTCs as your question is unrelated to the door lock issue and will not get the views you need.

@volvodork
Ok I'm still having trouble trying to find the part that I need to replace. None of the discount auto stores have it, and I don't know what model number I'm looking for. Any help?

Alright, looks like I've found what was causing all of my locking havoc and it's anything but connected to the cylinder.

So, I don't know how i should tackle this. Should I go to the stealership and see if they can give me a little plastic piece? Is there a code for that? I don't even know how it can even get out of that bend.
Also found a video on changing the lock. In case someone else wants to know whats going on.
