Steering is tougher to turn at low speed

Hello ,

On my recently acquired Volvo XC70 2005 (225k kms) I find the steering is much tougher to turn when going to low speed. Going to mid speed and up the steering feels great. I dont hear any noise and I have not noticed any leaks.

Is this actually normal ? If not what can I verify on my wagon to make sure everything is good.

Another on the list: 2005 XC70 can have the electronically controlled speed sensitive steering option. That system has a default to reduced assist if it fails. The module for it (looks like a tall relay) is an item that has some failure history. The first thing to do to see if this is a possibility is to see if you have an electrical connector adjacent to where you power steering hydraulic lines attach on steering gear.
