I love the idea of re-using oil and have been tempted. And my family thinks *I'm* cheap for turning off lights!
Lights? Who needs lights when candles are 12 for a dollar at church?

Cuhfs , weren't you swapping your worn out wipers for the squeegee at the gas station?

I wanted to do that squeegee swap but gas stations no longer wash windows or have free tire air. BUT charging for air... that's genius.

Some Stewart's shops have squeegees still... =)
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Ratnalle called this one earlier. He pointed out my 30 mile hot run arguably costs something like $10-15 minimum so Im truly stupid focussing on the oil economy. Okay, he said it nicer than that.

Slightly nicer perhaps. But it seems the point was made ;-)

Update on this thread. Since I switched to a Mobile 1 high mileage the 1999 oil consumption has dropped to oneliter per 2500-3000 miles, so oneliter in between oil changes. Both my T4 transporter and girl car run about 5000 per year, so no more free oil

People stand in line for my drain oil. I will generally only put it in lawn equipment though. The boat alone yields up 9 quarts of 20-50 Amsoil racing stuff every spring that only has 1 tank (60 gal) of gas's use on it. The cheap or dirty stuff gets used to start bonfires.

I save a small fortune in bar and chain oil by reusing my used motor oil.
