You could buy some rebuilt lines from this guy.......

Do you know if he still sells those lines? I might need to order the basic set. I rebuilt mine with what I thought was transmission cooler hose, but turned out to be heater hose. They are sweating oil and I'd really like to replace the hose with something that will hold up much better.

I dont know, I never bought any from him. His email is on there in long form. send him a message and see what happens. Im sure more of us are dying to know.

I'll probably do that soon, because I'd like to take care of this sooner rather than later.

Pretty sure he does. He also is a member here at MVS. I've bought from him as recently as a year ago, really good guy.

I had a busy weekend trying to get my 850 to stage 0.

Oil and filter change along with another 2 gallons of ATF for draining and filling. Already ran 3 gallons through it and the slush box is shifting very smoothly.
2 new trunk stuts
Shocks, struts and all new mounting bits
Lower control arms
Sway bar links
Both oil cooler lines
Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, air and cabin filter

Next weekend the car gets a timing belt and all coolant and heater hoses replaced. I've been removing and cleaning all grounds I can find while tinkering. I've also removed every connector I can find and treated them with de-oxit (available from radio shack, good stuff). Car is starting and running much better than when I bought it a couple weeks ago. Should be at stage 0 next Sunday evening.

Got on my knees and thanked my 1999T5 for still running me around reliably at 180k miles with two last kids in college. Two more years

I bet she will give you another 100k if you keep treating her right.

She could in your fine state but i will lose her to rust up here. In two years I would like to give her to someone who wants a T5 to nurture in reward for all she has done for the family.

Cool thread, ZionXIX!
Good luck Neil, hope your rims get fixed soon...
I'm waiting for my air filter to be delivered, hope it will improve performance and get rid of my P0101 code!
Also continously thinking about where my coolant is going... Think I'm up for either a new expansion tank or a new heater core...

Another side project I'm thinking about is installing a DC--> AC power inverter (had one in my previous 4wd, combined it with an automatic cable reel installed in the back and that worked great for running power tools in remote locations). I'd like to keep my 1999 V70XC to look as clean as possible, so looking for a place to hide the inverter. While learning more about installing a new heater core, I found out that there's a hollow space in between the dash and heater core. Seems to be a good spot, but where do I draw the power from..? Installing it in the back, under the hatches, would physically be a more logical location, but then I'll need to install looooong and thick 12V wiring to the battery. Or is there any cable in the back I could safely draw ~100 Amps from? Think this would be easier in a P2 that has the battery installed in the back, but not on my classic. Does anyone have some inspiration?

An inverter sounds pretty awesome. Don't they produce a fair amount of heat and require some airflow? I've seen them installed underneath seats and underneath the dashboard with plenty of airflow, but never inside the dashboard. I would just be worried about overheating.

I swapped out the old accelerator cable on my '97 850 at 190K for a new one... The old one wasn't broken, just rusty and with some crumbled sheathing... just preventative maintenance. When you press on the pedal, the new cable seems to feel about as smooth as the old cable did.

Today I was going to install the voltage regulator that I got from U Pull It salvage yard but after removing the cover from the rear of the alternator I noticed that the regulator was a different design from the one I got. I thought maybe it would still work but it has the warning light connection on the regulator itself. My alternator has it on the diode plate. Off to U Pull It again.
