Today, for my 1995 850 Turbo with the ECC, I fixed the broken blower fan that remained turned on even when the key was removed from the ignition. For a short term fix I had yanked the 30amp fuse from the number 5 slot and stuck it in an empty slot. Today I finally yanked the power stage and cracked it open. The large K1423 MOSFET (screwed into heat sink) had bit the dust and decided it was a short. The ZNRK220 metal oxide varistor (16mm black circle) decided it was time to die as well. So I desoldered, removed the bad parts from the power stage, and replaced them per below:
1. K1423 MOSFET Replaced with NTE2920
2. ZNR K220 Varistor Replaced with NTE2V014
3. White thermal paste between MOSFET and Heat sink was replaced with an Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound (need that good thermal conductivity).
There are probably better replacement parts out there but I wanted them now and fortunately a random TV Supply place close to me in San Diego had all the parts in stock but you should be able to order the parts online. -> http://www.lamesatvsupply.com/
After reinstalling the now fixed power module the blower no longer kicked on when the 30 amp fuse was in place. Key in the ignition, turned on the car, and the A/C worked wonderfully again. Aside from that annoying noise coming from the fan which will need fixing as it was what probably caused the MOSFET and Varistor to burn out in the first place.

I replaced (yet another) oxygen sensor. Heating the exhaust pipe where the sensor screws in is the key - it works every time!
What is it with the 1996-1997's that they are so finicky about the sensors? I've never had to replace one on a 1994.

I had a heck of a time trying to take out my cousin's O2 sensor on his S70. We ended up giving up and bringing it to his favorite exhaust shop to get it off. And that's saying something... I never bring my cars to anyone.
I'll be heating it up next time! Only thing I didn't try...

Heating mostly always works. But is also something I rather not do myself
After doing the evaporator and heater core last weekend, yesterday I did some more work on the car.
Put in new bosch distributor and rotor. Plus new bougiecord cables. After about 45000km from wich 35000 on lpg,
The old cables were going bad. They were a cheap brand. One cable even broke apart when taking out.
The dstributor and rotor could have worked for some more kms, but they are relatively cheap, and now I have a reliable and good whole set again.
Big difference! Much more torque in low end. Especially on lpg.
Few months ago we did a 3 day tour through the alps. With our 850 wagon fully loaded because we came back form holiday. And the brakes were not happy about that.
there were quite some moments in long steep decends I thought they would die on me. squeeking and screeching my way down.
Some weeks later next to sqeeking, it also developed a vibration when braking at low speeds. Which became more and more over time.
So took out all the brakepads. Cleaned and sanded them up a bit. New fat on pads and pins. Brakes like new again.
Definetely something I would recommend everyone to do every now and then.
With the right tools, it only takes an hour and you will really notice and love the difference!

I lost AC so I redid my bread clips on my compressor - in tribute to Eric, I used pink zip ties.
Cap closed from 0.75mm to a bit less than 0.3 - its a bit tight but it isnt rubbing so Ill go with that
I love my new AC!!

1000 miles in the P80 seat in NY MA CT RZi NJ over two days for interviews.
..and an old guy back and sprained knee* that feels like I've been taking easy.
That P80 seat is just amazing.
* sprained it on an ice fall on Everest, or I slipped and landed in fresh dog poop in 90F sun. Both are amusing, only one is truthful.

My back still aches after a long drive in my car, but in comparison to just about any other car, it's not bad. Just took an 800 mile trip down to Florida in my cousin's S70 and that went well other than a cam seal blowing out in the middle of nowhere in Georgia. You want to know how to turn an 8.5 hour trip into 21? Take a 222k mile Volvo with original front cam seals!
We just replaced the intake seal (VVT plug T50 was stripped, thankfully wasn't leaking... yet) along with the t-belt, WP, and everything else Wednesday, and the car runs great now. We just need to properly align the new PNP switch.
