The Seventh Mysterty Bolt problem is solved

The bolt is listed under the 'Torque Tube' and is number 13 here

Part number Flange bolt 985061

which Skandix.de tells us is a M12 x 80 mm with self locking thread
What was old is new again. Ford cars from 1930's and early 1940's used a torque tube rigidly attached to the rear axle while the drive shaft turned inside the tube. Later, the torque tube was removed when the open drive shaft and universal joints were used.

Good luck!

Are you doing the fuel pump and transfer pump while you have the tanks down? Also, were you able to find all the fuel lines, or are you fabricating them?

It was a good day yesterday...

Pushed Ekaterina out of the driveway, aired up, put an old battery in to put windows up and open gas flap. My friend Mike came, we dollied up and made the short trip to the lift

Settled Ekaterina into the Bay

Popped the 10 mm nuts and did the electricals from the trunk

Removed the snap ring and pushed the fuel filler gaiter into the hatch hole

Up...up...up..up

Removedparking brake cable, quick call to Neil inCalgary to confirm the slightly different config of the AWD. PINS VS HOOK cable attachment.

Blocked Ekaterina up under the rockers to access the axle

Torque rod bolt out.

Burned off exhaust clamp and removed rear exhaust

Fuel and vapour line , removed the plastic tray that covers these.

Unclipped brake line

And the moment of truth came. The avid MVS reader will remember that I’ve gotten 5/7 of the axle carrier bolts loose but the last two wouldn’t yield to the big Green Monster.

I fired up up the oxy and heated the steel frame member up....zap zap zap...still not coming.

Onto the Alunimum sub frame, a bit less heat...zap zap zap .....SUCCESS!,

Both sides worked out...conclusion....it’s bolt to Aluminum corrosion that grabs these bolts

We blocked up the axle onto the frame jack...and......

It’s a mess on top. The fuel lines are all badly rusted , so we will be fabbing all new lines to get her going again.

I told Caitlin it was a real Rube Goldberg fuel system, but she says it isn’t a true RGM unless it has a mouse...hey...wait a minute...
