V70 failed inspection for loose balljoints today.
Meyle HD control arms installed 45k km (28k miles) and 4.5years ago. Not super impressed

Correction: balljoints are fine. Whoever did the inspection probably wasnt that day (our inspection centers cannot legally be garages, so it's not like they could have upsold me anything)

Did not see mention of Hamburg-Technic. Being ‘German’ decided to try their round front and rear lower engine mounts. Rock solid rubber and vibrated worse than old 173k mile originals. Hutchinson unit installed from FCPEuro and is dramatically better.

I live close to Hamburg, Germany and have never heard of "Hamburg-Technic" before. They seem to be mostly/only sold in the US, so most likely they are not from Germany and it's just marketing :/

So, today I serviced my S70 and replaced (among other things) the distributor cap and rotor (see attached photo). After the service I had to run a couple of errands, drove in the city, out of the city, highway, high and low speed, full throttle etc. The car runs perfectly smooth, idles just like it always does, no misfires or anything of the sort, just like with (new) Bosch parts. So far, I'm content with the results! As far as longevity goes, time will tell. I've replaced Bosch caps and rotors with a 50.000 kilometer interval, I'm curious if the Beru parts also last that long.abscate wrote: ↑08 Feb 2025, 03:30Buy BERU an report back to the Collective, hereOcelot wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 09:03 I've got a question about ignition parts, specifically the rotor and cap. Here, in the Netherlands, they mainly sell two brands: Bosch and Beru. The price difference between these two brands is a bit... much in my opinion. There are suppliers that ask 108 euros for just the rotor, where as Beru prices range from 25-35 euros. I've called the people of one such supplier, a specialist in Volvo and Saab (R&D carparts), because they sell both brands. They claim that the Beru parts operate excellently and they haven't received any complaints about them. But as I'm searching through the many topics discussing this matter, I read a lot that boils down to: Bosch, and an alternative for Bosch is Bosch. In regards to the price difference I'm eager to try the Beru parts, but I'm also curious that what you guys have to say about it. Especially the people who've bought and tried the Beru parts.

I've got to say that FCP has really dropped the ball regarding their shipping way out west here. I placed an order with them 7 days ago and I still haven't received it. And I am only 2 hours away from their new western outlet ! I called them, and after waiting on hold for 11 minutes, I am told that I should have it by Monday. So 10 days to go apx 120 miles. They could have strapped it to a donkey and it would have been here by now. Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened.
By comparison, I placed an order at the same time from IPD. Received it 3 days later from Portland OR. 1208 miles away. This, coupled with FCP's habit of shipping small parts in WAY oversized boxes which then I have to go and pick up at the post office, is not going to be good for business.

Feedback to them. Something went wrong and they do a pretty good job improving , imho.
Or buy from IPD

I used to buy from both. I can't say either was bad in any way in the multiple orders I have placed on both. Delivery to Canada is the reason I don't use them so often as the shipping is stupid expensive. Our exchange rate and free shipping from several Volvo dealers with on line presence often means I can buy the parts here cheaper. Funny thing is I buy Toyota parts from Dubai and get deliveries quicker from there than I get for NA suppliers. Last order placed on Monday afternoon Mountain time and delivered Friday am!
