What brand was it? Let us know if it rots out in a few years.

I'll also add that I've found INA tensioners/idlers in Contitech (continental) and SKF timing belt kits

I like Meyle rotors. I've bought about 5 pairs and worn out several. I like the plating. I wouldn't buy any other Meyle parts. I may not buy more depending on how my latest pair of (also plated) Zimmermans works out.

Probably controversial, but I am not a fan of IPD own brand parts. It is great they have taken time to design hard to find replacement parts and 'performance' parts. For me though most have been poor quality manufacture over the years including HD sway-bar end links (ball ends went sloppy in 6 months), IPD front sway bar and bushes (they say you have to grease with marine grade grease every 5000 miles) that have to be removed which requires front sub-frame drop to grease??? Replace the bushes with greaseable ones, (Energy Suspension) but have accessible grease nipples.
Then the IPD TCV that you can't screw the front leg in more than 3-4 turns or it crushes the small wire filter against the valve jamming it. I have raised this issue with them multiple times and to add this to the instructions but still nothing done.
Also be aware of some of their service kits and what they contain. They are better than they were but had to re-do a PCV service as the short 90 degree (URO) pipe split after 700km. That time at least there had been several complaints so the kit got a Volvo part instead.
Their upper HD spring seats have so far been OK but then the car has only done about 5000km if that!
Neil.

There’s a supplier called ECS Tuning with a lot of VW, Audi, BMW parts, performance, and “tuning” pieces. We bought some of their assembled “kits” of parts for an Audi engine replacement. It was a total mixed bag of factory and just junk pieces. I replaced some in a matter of weeks when they failed still shaking it down. I learned a lot with that exercise.
As a long time customer starting with our 240, I feel like things have slowly changed at ipd. They’re no longer the go-fast 140 SCCA racing place they were in the 70s and 80s, and I guess that’s a natural progression. But I’m really impatient with low quality parts from anyone.

I bought this timing belt tensioner on ebay, where it was advertised as "made in Japan":
https://www.ebay.com/itm/361751925347?f ... Sw8gVX7q8G
When it arrived it was in a Swedish Car Parts box with no mention of Japan. The large bearing is, in fact, from NSK (a Japanese firm which ranks with SKF and INA), but it's about 2/3 the size of the OEM bearing. Additionally the staking and swaging process by which it's mounted may well impair it's ability to dissipate heat. The needle bearing is a (likely Taiwanese) RBH, which is probably adequate for the slow speed and light loading on that end. If the vendor wants to swap it out for one with a full sized bearing I'd take it, if not it's going back for a refund.
