Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)
Replaced the intake elbow in the R with a good used one with a non-leaking PTC, and sure enough, no difference! I'm gonna push this car over a cliff.

I've had a low boost issue on this car since I've gotten it up and running. I have a Hilton stage 1 tune, so there's no reason at all I should only be seeing 6-8 PSI of boost on a V70R. I've gone through just about everything that could cause a low boost condition, but I've seen no changes.

To see if its mechanical, disconnect the turbo control valve line to the wastgate and see what boost you have. dont juice it below 2500 rpm. If its still the same then its the wastgate stuck open, weak spring on the compressor dump diaphragm, bad bearings, or clogged inter cooler or opening in high pressure side of turbo. the stock spring on the compressor diaphragm should go to 12. did you suck on the line to make sure the diaphragm is not rotted away? its on the tree on the intake.

Finally swapped out the last of tan interior
(busted, broken dash)

and began the *70 nose swap (Car has been bumped twice in the front, so things needed to be replaced anyway)

850 hood/fenders removed and scrapped. *70 hood installed to keep engine covered. Rest of the 850 stuff coming off soon.

Yeah, it has no problem boosting to 20 PSI with the wastegate line disconnected.tardcart wrote: ↑29 Apr 2019, 04:26 To see if its mechanical, disconnect the turbo control valve line to the wastgate and see what boost you have. dont juice it below 2500 rpm. ok, that leaves the computer, turbo control valve, boost sensor, knock sensor. Ox sensors, and anything throwing a code. also low fuel pressure. since its a volvo ide start with Ox, fuel pressure, and if possible another computer with known boost either stock R or pals tune. or just disconnect the wastgate and go easy low rpm and ignore problem. Tunes are nice but unnecessary on these small turbos.
Just let it rip.

Yeah, I can't figure it out. I tested for boost leaks once again and I can't find any. I can hear a hissing when I pressurize it, but now that I think about it, it could have been the over-the-engine intercooler pipe. I'll check that again tomorrow.tardcart wrote: ↑29 Apr 2019, 17:23 ok, that leaves the computer, turbo control valve, boost sensor, knock sensor. Other than that, I already tried a new O2 sensor, fuel pressure at idle is exactly where it should be (56 PSI) (haven't checked while driving), I've tried 3 different TCVs (all good), and the tune is not the issue since the problem remains when I flash the stock tune to the ECU.

I have yet to check for a temperature input, I keep meaning to but I keep forgetting. I'll look at that tomorrow. The temp gauge sits just below 9:00 when the engine is at operating temp, not sure if that's an issue with the temp sensor or just due to the thermostat I'm using (Borg Warner, I believe 89 degrees C).
I do notice my boost gauge "hunting" around 17 in-hg at idle when I first start the car. As it warms up, it settles around 19-20 in-hg, but it still bounces around slightly. In my GLT, the gauge stays pretty steady.
Anyway, I am going to run some logs for Hilton tomorrow on their software. I'll update everyone on what we find out!
