2006 XC90 Trailer hitch wiring

I'm buying the wiring harness fron Volvo and planning to install it myself. Does the car need a software download/update to avoid problems?

You don't need any software, but you do need what is called a trailer control unit. Part number is 30664974, we keep it in stock. I would also check our site for the harness if your going to do it yourself. The newest part number is 30756529, which is for a 4/7 pole connector.

They do list software which is for a "rear fog light off" when trailer is connected download. You don't really need this, it will work just fine if you do it yourself and don't do this download. You must get the trailer control unit though, or it will not work.
