95 850 Turbo Loping Shudder at Highway Speeds

Ok, Volvo pros, can you diagnose this sight unseen?

I have a loping shudder that kicks in at around 60mph. it is three seconds on (shudder), three seconds off (smooth). I feel it very strongly in the steering wheel.

The maintenance history of the vehicle is unknown- I just started driving it after a top-to-bottom rebuild of the engine. The previous owner had overheated it and warped the head.

Any ideas?

Is the shudder only under acceleration or on a smooth level surface? Bad inner C/V joints can cause a big vibrations and around 60 MPH is where it seems to gets at its worst but that is usually when the car is accelerating. Bad motor mounts can bind things up in the axles as well but again that will again be a problem under acceleration.

Smooth and level surface, just cruising on the highway with light pressure applied to the gas pedal.

I've experienced a lot of different suspension and drive shaft issues before, I'm just baffled by the rhythmic 3 seconds on and 3 seconds off shudder.

It is curious indeed. When my wife had bad hubs on her Jeep they would reach a resonant speed where things would get softer and louder but it was really only around 45mph. At speeds higher than that they were just real loud all the time.
