driver door won't shut

The driver door of my wife's 2005 XC90 will not shut. It is as if the tumbler has a spring that is broken. The door reacts as though someone is continuously pulling the door open handle from the inside.

Any clues as to what is wrong. Anyone else experience this problem?

Without knowing about XC90s, I'd say take a look at both driver and front passenger doors when they're open. Sometimes on my 850s trunk latch it'll get out of sync with where it's supposed to be... the catch will be closed when it should be open to receive the post, etc.
