xc90 2004 "right turn signal bulb failure"

Post by jdmec »

My right turn signal quit working a few days ago. When I flip the signal switch, the dash indicator says "right turn signal bulb failure." The next day, same thing with the left signal. I checked all of the bulbs; they were all good. I checked the fuse, and found that it was blown. When I tried to replace it, it blew again. I found a wire pinched between right tail light lens and body of the car. I cut out the bad section, and spliced the wire back together. The left signal now works, but the right does not. All of the signal bulbs on the right side stay on constantly. They don't flash, they just remain lit. They stay on even without accessory power. I removed the fuse, but there is still some stray voltage at the right side sockets. Where do I go from here? The closest dealer is an hour away, and the warranty ended on Sept 30, 09.
