Checking ATF level 04 C70

Post by Fryday_1 »

This seems like a dumb question but is the ATF level on the2.4L C70 checked with the engine running or off. I am fairly sure it is checked with the engine running, but the owners manuel just states to have a Volvo tech do it.

Yeah, they always want you to take it to the dealer- best way is after you've run your car for 30 mins or so...then the fluid is good and hot... let your car run, shift through all your gears (foot on brake pedal) and then put it in park- still with your engine running, pull the dipstick and check the hot side... wipe it off and check again- always wipe with a cloth that leaves no lint. Good luck!

the dipstick is also a pain in the ass to find on these cars too.

It's buried underneath the large turbo hose.
