Agree with the above, if you do buy this car, get it for cheap because the average buyer would not even look at the car with a salvage title. Also, if you do buy it, keep in mind that you will have a hard time selling it if you ever choose to.

I think to have my timing belt done (not something I wanted to mess with myself) was around $370, oil change to synthetic if you get it done is ~$50, tranny flush $75...I dunno what all the official '70K service' entails, but that's all I'd have done to it for now; all the other little maintenance items you can do yourself once you get to do a more thorough check-up.

$1500. works, I paid $1300.00 for my V70XC, regular title, knowing it needed a trans, plus it had a new head, cams, valves, new drive shaft,.I did the front axels, calipers, heater core, tires. But still don't have but $3000.00 in the whole car.Drive it,fix, it, love it, and fix it some more.

1500 works, just don't go much over 2K if they start saying that 1500 is to low.

Also, I just noticed that you are from New Orleans. Hope that car was not in any floods if you know what I mean.

We had a Honda from N.J come in,passed all the car fax and stuff, one of the mechanics kids bought it off ebay.It was clean.Well when we put it on the lift and looked at the frame and other areas, it was packed full of mud.Opened the trunk, and pulled back the carpet,we found a water line and debris. So even with carfax, some cars get by.
If the car is clean, and you've driven it for a hour or more,go for it.
FCP has lots of parts, and plenty of people on this site who are willing to help.

hello again,

here is the last update, the owner took it to the dealer to get it checked because of the engine light and they said that the front oxygen sensor needs to be replaced which will cost 630 at the dealer and he took 500 off of the price. he also said that timing belt was changed last year.

what do you guys think i should do? i don't really need a car but it would be nice to have a second car for 1500 hundred. i don't think i want to pay 2500. i had offered him 1250 stating all that service issues like timing belt, ac (doesn't blow cold), plus considering it has a salvage title.

I think I am going to offer him 1500, if he takes it i wil buy it.. what you all think?

I also have another question, I am doing levee and floodwall construction inspections that are ongoing right now around new orleans. The company rented a 4x4 truck for me to drive. Since this v70 is AWD, do you think it would drive like a 4WD truck? If I use my own car, company pays 52 cents per pile...

Just from reading this post it sounds like you are having some second thoughts on the car.
Cars do not appreciate unless they are special.
So, they just lose value over time, more so if they are neglected. Volvo's are not cheap to maintain, like most European cars.
It sounds to me this is something you could walk away from and save up some cash for a better deal, one that does not require all the needs of this one. Plus the salvage title is a huge unknown and risk.

Just my 2 cents.

Spend $1500 on an older nissan, toyota, ford, chevy, etc 4*4 if you wanta vehicle to drive around the work site....

I already put this as a new topic on the forum. i hope i will get some answers.
i hope i am getting a good deal on this car.

Dealers say 02 sensors all the time- make sure all the vacuum lines are tight and the MAF sensor is good- these can cause the 02 sensor trouble code to light up...much cheaper to do the other stuff anyway! Just a head's up! :)
