I'm trying to decide which struts to purchase.
I have a '98 S70 T5 Sedan w/spoiler. Should I purchase the 850 w/ spoiler trunk struts or the '99 S70 w/spoiler trunk struts ? Also, which brand are the German-made struts ?

I'm here and then I'm not- I answered your private message to me but this question wasn't asked there- I bought mine from IPDUSA. I did try to change mine out last summer with some junk yard ones for cheap but they didn't last any time at all. Good luck! Oh, btw, the ones that IPD sold didn't specify trunk spoiler or not but they are working fine (mine has the heavier spoiler).

OK....Here's the deal...

I purchased the trunk struts from ebay. So far I have one of them installed. However, I having a hard time snapping the retaining clip on to the strut. Is there another way of doing this or will I have to put the clip on first and attempt to snap the ball joint into the clip ????????

If you have a sedan there is a simple trick I figured out which makes exactly what you're talking about possible. Oddly enough, it's not part of that Volvospeed link pictorial - he leaves this step out. On the far edges of the seat backrest (imagine you were sitting in the backseat at the extreme edge left or right, it would be under your left shoulder and arm on the left side of the car, or right shoulder/arm etc.) Remove that outermost vertically-shaped, rectangular piece of the seat. It looks like it's all part of the seat backrest but it's not. The seatback is in three-pieces. Pull that narrow vertical rectangular piece outwards at the top only first, then pull upwards. You will be amazed! There is that P.I.T.A. piece of the strut you have been trying to attach. I use a large/long flat bladed screwdriver to push that friction-fitting piece onto that small rod. The other option is to take 45 minutes and bend your body like a contortionist to get that piece to fit. Let us know how that works for you.
