Edit: dont mind me...this time I read the post and looked right over the title stating that it turns over. So my suggestion of cleaning the battery terminals wont make much difference. I'll stop talking now and stay out of Bill's way :D

ok so last week when i posted i didn't mention that i had to be towed.. so a couple days later i was checking the fuses and decided to try turning her over again. she started right up so I pulled out of the driveway, turned it off then restarted to be sure- all was good. I drove away and in a matter of 2 1/2 miles the check engine light came on and I lost all power-not gradually mind you but all of a sudden. I pulled over and turned on the lights making sure the battery had power it did but again the car would not start-had to be towed again! Does this type of behavior point to any one malfunction? Should I and how do I check the fuel filters? What else?

If you aren't getting a spark it can't be the fuel filters.

The Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. What fault codes were stored? You can check this yourself using the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit in the engine compartment. This is a first step in diagnosis. If you need to know how to use the OBD see here. There is a .pdf file in the 4th post.

Can this be found in the Haynes manual?

Possibly but the link I gave you has it all. The procedure is the same for the '89 and the '90.
