240 Headlamp

Post by LA48340 »

I took one of my headlamp lenses off to clean the reflective area around the lamp. When I sprayed glass cleaner and wiped it with soft towel..the reflective mirror-like surface came off. Do I need to get a replacement headlamp now or will it still put out enough of a beam without the finish.
thanks.

Unfortunatley, you have learned the hard way that you never touch the reflector of any lamp with your hands or any cleaning product. The reflector is finished and will need replacement. You will still get some light from the damaged reflector but it will be less intense than the other one and, depending on the laws where you live, may be illegal.

On UK models the reflector can be bought as a separate item but I can't find them listed for US models. You may have to visit a breaker's yard to get a complete unit or try Erie Vo-Vo, link at top of page.
