Info on worn shaft. Aw 30-71 gearbox

Hi just wondering what the out shaft does as one is worn and the other is very worn, looks like a badly worn starter motor shaft where the brushes run. thanks I think it maybe something to do with the pump.

They are badly worn.

The pump directly behind those shafts. Thats what the download i have says it is. Will it be ok to install that gearbox with the lesser worn shaft at all? What runs/grabs that worn shaft anyway, Thanks again

Sorry about that question - my brain had lost a gear and gone into neutral.

Auto boxes are very complicated to describe. The attachment is one of the easier descriptions I have found. Thanks to familycar.com.

The inner shaft doesn't look too bad but the outer shaft is definitely in need of replacement.
