Hi there,
So I just spoke with a guy who said that in order to replace the front lower ball joints on my 2000 S70 they had to replace the whole lower control arm and depending on whether it was a 4 or 2 bolt system it was $650 or $550 respectively.
Does anyone know if a) that's a good price for this repair and b) if a 2000 S70 FWD GLT uses the 2 or 4 bolt system?
Thanks.

A FWD version should be the 2 bolt but it is easy enough to just look at the control arms to find out. The two bolt versions have a large bolt that goes through the bushing itself through tabs on the frame rail. The 4 bolt versions have a bolt on each side of the bushing that runs through holes on ears at the end of each bushing.
The 4 bolts are usually on AWD models.

Thanks Lee. If I wasn't such a useless mechanic I'd try it myself but my wife won't let me touch steering or brakes ... and she's just right too.
