1995 850 Turbo: Rotor and wires, will plain Bosh do?
I'm going to replace the cap and rotor along with the wires and plugs this weekend. Don't really have time to order parts and have them shipped, so will plain Bosh items from the usual auto parts store work or is any of it so picky it needs specific manufacturers and need to be ordered? I've always hated buying plug wires at auto parts stores... wonder how much the dealer charges?

the stock cap and rotor are Bosch and the wires are Bougicord or something like that. these cars are quite particular about ignition parts and plugs. IPDUSA has them and i think fcpgroton has stock also.

If you don't want problems like misfiring or so,go with oem parts. These cars are very picky about electronic and ignition parts.
Oem is only way to go!

plus there is not an significant difference in pricing beteween the items mentionned or an other brand but it will save you money..you w ont have to change them again...
check fcp's website or even myvolvopartonline....good pricing and door delivery...
thats the combination i have and i wont change...

FCP shipped me the Cap, Rotor Button, Leads& Plugs (along with some other stuff) cheaper than the stealer here would sell me the leads.RockVegas wrote:Can I get the wires from the stealership or is the price just not worth it?
All the FCP gear was OEM, the Bougicord leads come in a Bougicord box but also have Volvo (in the right font) stamped onto the actual leads.
Also, when I say "Shipped" I live in New Zealand, so shipping was pretty expensive but still cheaper than Volvo NZ. Dont even ask how much they wanted for the Spring Seat or the argument I had with the parts man about why I was putting an XC90 seat on a 850...
Cheers

If you can wait a few days, order them from fcp. The prices are much better are the majority of parts. I love the fact I'm close to them. ANything I order one day is on my door step by the time I get home from work the next day. The shipping is cheaper that the sales tax and I don't have to waste time or money tracking down parts from various places. Plus I don't have to worry about getting cheap aftermarket parts, instead I can get cheap OEM parts.
I would definitely recommend volvo OEM wires and plugs.
