850 heater blower fan not working -- please help

Post by leoz60 »

I have a '93 850 sedan with electronic climate control. All control motors work EXCEPT the blower. The scan code, 4-1-8, says 'NO CONTROL SIGNAL TO BLOWER POWER STAGE' according to Haynes. What does this mean? And what is the blower power stage? Is this the resistor? I tried tracing the schematic but it's just too tight under the dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does your climate control have a variable speed or 1 to 4. First check the fuses in the engine compartment. If 1-4 and 1-3 are out it would be the resistor pack located on the motor if all 4 are out probably the fuse.

All fuses are intact. The control is variable speed. Te code implies that the controller (ECC) can not get signal to the power stage. I guess I'll take the controller out and try tracing from there.
