2004 xc90 rear hatch

I can not get the rear hatch to open using the outside handle on the hatch. It will open using the release handle on the inside of the hatch. Any suggestions? Thank you.

mine is a little sticky too. for me, i just push in on the door with one hand and pull the handle with the other. that lets the teeth that are keeping the door shut have enough room to unlatch. that handle feels weak too, hopefully that doesnt go.

It's possible that the cable that attaches to the outside handle has come out, strechted or broken. If you remove the inside panel, you will be able to see the cable going to the handle and determine if that is the problem. Hope that helps!
