850 parts suppliers reference

Post by wildlifeguy »

After purchasing an 850 non turbo for my wife, I have the pleasure of replacing various "wear and tear" parts.
after researching the net, UAP, NAPA, and volvo dealer for parts, I have come across a parts supplier here in Canada (subisdary of U.S parent company) which $ is almost too good to be true.

Before I order from them, does anyone know of "Auto Parts ONline" or "Auto Parts Online Canada" and have you ordered from them with any success? Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Although I have not heard from nor ordered from them, I was wondering if you noticed the banners at the top of the page? I am a big fan of FCP for parts and many members have had good experiences with MySwedishParts.com and Erie Volvo. Beware not to buy anything made by Scan Tech.

Actually I have to go against FCP....Their reps are HORRIBLE..IE Mike,Andrew,Scott, and the owner Nick. I recently had the displeasure of chatting with them and they were VERY-VERY RUDE! FCP used to be alot better in terms of customer service...but they have really gone down the drain now....with cheap quality and worse service. I spoke with Eeuroparts...and they are far more professional!!!!

Wow the prices on this site(http://www.parts.autopartsonlinecanada.com) almost seem too good to be true...I'm located in Mississauga...so this would be very convenient for me as well(not to mention economical too)!!!  :o :o

I called and left a voicemail...I'll see if they get back to me.
If this place is the real deal...I will never use FCP again...EVER!!!

+1!
Some tricks they come up are so cheesy such as relabeling scancrap parts as "after market", "lifetime warranty" (fine prints are only if you have them installed by certified mechanics or buy extra insurance, dont forget you have to pay the shipping ).
My point is, do your comparison shopping and make sure you know what you are getting.

You, my friend, obviously haven't talked to Don or Jamie at DW Volvo yet.

all the part suppliers have oem blue box volvo parts and different grades of aftermarket parts

through trial and error i would never buy electronic parts for these cars that are not either oem genuie volvo or bosch or the original supplier sorry thats the rough truth...unless you want to make a habit or become perfect changing the same parts

fcp are not perfect but if you stick to the oem on original supplier parts everithink should be ok

if you are in canada one IMPORTANT thing is when you buy from fcp the BROKEARGE FEES are Included thats very important and you want to spare yourself of an additionnal cost when you get delivery of parts

as far as http://www.parts.autopartsonlinecanada.com) as long as you stick to the oem blue box volvo or bosch you should be fine i had a bad experinece with the i bought a hella fuel pump but ended up getting a walbro pump.....boxed in a hella box .at the price of a hella (more expensive) i wrote to them and never got an answer

up to now fcp was top ...c ant complain but d ont buy the cheap sacnscrap or unknown aftermarket parts..

the good new is that there is a lot of good quality brake parts for volvos that are made in canada at affordable prices...rotors and pads and beleive it or not some parts are almost the same price at the dealership compared to online stores the bugger here is the time to shop around to get same part at best price...

cheers !

Yeah I will definitely give Darrell Waltrip Volvo a shot. I'm really fed up with FCP and their complete obliviousness to being even a tad respectful!!!!

I'll elaborate on what was the last straw for me.

I ordered On Thursday at 2:30 AM some parts for my 850....I remembered after paying that I also needed an oil cap and a gasket....I coundn't call them at 2:30 of course...so I called them first thing when they opened(8-9 am to minimize shipping costs and have them put everything in one order)...Spoke to Mike(sales manager)...He asked what I needed to add to the order...and as soon as I said the part numbers(and he realized we were talking about less than 10 dollars in parts)...he immediately went off about how it is," impossible to look for your order, We have 1000s of boxes in the shipping department, sorry there's nothing I can do.Your order is shipping right now" I said "Ok please cancel the entire order" He says"no can't do that" in a very indifferent tone, I got so upset I said "well I'll ship everything back once I receive the order" He replies "you can do that "...the argument continues for a few minutes before he acknowledges the order is incomplete on their end and that the order would be shipped in two days at the earliest anyways. "I'll try to add the parts to the order." I asked him to email me once he added the oil cap and gasket. He didn't keep his promise, of-course ,as expected.

I was upset at him before 3 months ago for shipping my order 2 weeks late(and emailing the company owner..Nick)..and apparently he kept a grudge...that's what fueled the whole argument...and his way of revenge????

Hope you guys don't run into the same issues...I'll be giving my opinion on Waltrip once I've dealt with them long enough...It sounds great!!! 8) 8)

just be careful for the brokerage fees ...double check if their price includes taxes and brokerage fees....i got a bad surprise last time i ordered from eeuroparts had to dish out an extra $15 on an 50$ order for taxes bringing the price after shipping cost exchange difference and extra taxes same as local dealer...

some of the us companies are resident shippers in can some others are not explaining the surprise on paying extra amount on delivery...tell us how it turns out will darryl waltrip i would be intersted also as they have the volvo original parts...

cheers !

I am going to let this thread run a bit more before I move it but I need to chime in. With three 850s to keep running I have used every vendor mentioned and then some.

FCP sells some real junk but you need to understand that when you place the order. If it is marked as Scan Tech it is pretty much guaranteed to be trash - it is priced accordingly. I would just appreciate the honesty of saying Scan Tech rather than calling things "aftermarket". Some of the URO branded parts have actually been OK but they get labeled into the same "aftermarket" category as the Scan Tech crap. As far as FCP is as a company I have nothing but praise. When I have had problems customer service has been top notch and prompt to remedy the situation. The last problem I had was with a lower radiator hose that did not fit properly, I emailed Nick and he called me back, personally, the next morning at my home. He apologized and issued a store credit to cover what I had paid for the defective part. It didn't make any sense to ship it back since the freight was more than the value of the part. Nick cleared the bin of the bad parts and I presume he had a conversation with his vendor to straighten things out.

I have had no problems with eEuroparts either. As is the case with FCP you need to know what you are buying as they to offer up the same Scan Tech crap but they are a bit better at identifying it as such. I did buy Scan Tech rear delta arm end links from Todd based on the fact that he told me, of all of the Scan Tech junk he has sold, no one has ever complained about that particular part. After 3 years I can't complain about those parts either, they have been flawless.

I have used MyVolvoPartsonline.com for a new radiator for my '94. Great service and quick shipping. They were very competitively priced and the part was Blue Box Volvo.

I have used Erie Vo-Vo via eBay and have no complaints whatsoever. The parts have been as described, well packaged and quickly shipped. My only problem with them is that they are a tad expensive through the online store when compared to the eBay offerings and their eBay competitors like Tom's.

Don and Jamie at Darrell Waltrip Volvo (800) 689-0021 are outstanding. All OEM parts at great prices, you can't deal with a nicer couple of guys and they get things out the door fast.

Pelican Parts has great service but they are very expensive when it comes to Volvo parts. They are much more competitive if you happen to have a spare Porsche in the driveway - for the moment I fall into the spare Porsche in the driveway category.

IPD has some of the most knowledgeable representatives in the business. Lucky has forgotten more than I will ever know about Volvo suspensions but that comes at a price. If you want to go fast and steer hard they are the people to deal with but bring your checkbook.

Most of the rest of the internet suppliers, other than Rock Auto, fall under the banner of Auto Parts Warehouse or one of its hundreds of other internet site names. It is little more than a phone bank in India to gather credit card numbers and sit on your money. You pay interest while they collect interest and the parts never come. After a while they might ship you the wrong part, stall you for another couple of months on the RMA, and then they will issue a credit after a year or so.

Know who you are dealing with and know what you are buying.

The auto parts business is very difficult and it is wrought with counterfeit or defective products that can even fool some of the most honest vendors that are trying to get their customers the best products at the best prices. I am to the point where I believe it is genuine when I buy it from an authorized dealer and it comes in a blue box.

Some dealers are better than others though. The schmucks at Superior Volvo in Kansas City are nothing but thieves (List +40%) but what is strange is that Rick Hendrick also owns Darrell Waltrip Volvo which is one of the best in my book.
