I went to my local showroom few days ago and had a quick look on the fabulous xc60. I must say I am very impressed with the features and interior.
I almost decided to trade in my lovely and loyal 06 v70 (I would keep it if I could as I am also quite reluctant to part with my v70). But guess I'll ask some owners of xc 60 here what they think. The sales guy said its a perfect little 4wd for the family for day to day use.
Thinking of getting the turbo model. (T5)
Thanks
Xc60 is this car as good as they say?
They are - but I'm partial - I sell them..!! But I am also a long time Volvo owner with a 1991 240 and 1995 850. The XC60, especially the T6 engine is best in class in the small SUV luxury segment. It blows away the BMW X3, M.B. GLK, Lexus RX, Infinity FX. I would only put the Audi 5 as an equal competitor. But the XC60 stops itself - and that puts it well ahead of everyone. The reliability of the XC60 has been very good. They initially had an issue with loose turbo hoses but that has been resolved. We can't keep them in stock - go with the T6 if you like performance.

I test drove a T6 model XC60, and I absolutely loved it. It drives (and rides!) about like a car instead of a big truck, and it's peppy. Unfortunately, it wasn't car shopping for me. I went with my father to test drive a few cars for myself and him, and he was looking to replace his Liberty, so he wanted another small SUV that can carry stuff and tow.

Yeah just noticed its a 6cyl car. I thought it is 5cyl...didnt pay attention on the spec...
Well I am not really into performance but I thought a little zoom zoom could bring a spice of life, right? =D
I should have testdriven the car but I didnt as I had to pick up my son from his mate's house and actually was thinking of going back there for it...but thought I'll ask people opinion first before getting the sales guy more excited of me being a prospect customer =D
He actually called me today...yes on new years day and asked me if I could come to the showroom tomorrow and he'll let me drive the car for the whole day with no obligation.
We only have 3 variance of xc60 here in Australia I think...that's what he told me. The turbo, diesel and regular 3.2 litre one. I am interested with the turbo model...but the diesel one is also tempting...very good fuel economy he said...There is TR but its just cosmetic appearance really...
And I also thought the "auto brake" feature comes standard...it is not. $4000+ extra. Is it really necessary or just an expensive gimmick?

Pugfolk, great to hear from a dealer point of view here. It does feel nice in the inside. And I never like BMW, Audi or German made cars either =D they are too expensive for the actual value of the car...ok I must admit BMW x6 is cool...but For me if its not volvo then it would be Mr Honda-san hehehe. I am a long time volvo owner too. My dad gave me 97 960gl as my first car when I finished uni in 1999 (was his car before)PUGFOLK wrote:They are - but I'm partial - I sell them..!! It was sadly stolen and the guy who stole it crashed it so yeah...was really heart broken. Then bought the 850 se 95 model and got married and 2006 I bought my lovely v70. Got pretty damn good deal on that too...Oh I love that car lol. Hmmm now...xc60...how tempting...
What do you think about the diesel engine variance? I know volvo diesel is pretty good as I work in bus industry and we have more than 50 volvo buses some are quite new...(b12b, b7r model) They are durable and quiet especially the new euro 5 b7r.
