I found out about this "cash for clunkers" from wikipedia...lol it's US government initiative to boost economy...in which in my humble opinion...very stupid...
Not trying for a pun here for you Americans but your government really needs a good whack on the head. Someone put it better...why not bulldoze your houses and make a new greener house?
I can't believe this was pulled out by the most advanced country in the world...not trying to make to get a whack on their head...
We were in recession here in Australia too but now the government has declared we are out of it. Stimulus was given by giving each tax payer AU900 in cash and government encouraged us to spend them all to create jobs and turn the economy wheel. Also creating jobs by giving away $1200 worth of home insulation for every home in Australia thus creating more jobs and employment plus others like solar panel rebates, greener energy rebates, free LPG conversion for cars (pay $1 only), rebates on new car purchase for business, and LOTS more. It is 2 billion dollar of economic stimulus plan. And we are out of inflation and recession in a mere 3-4 months.
Americans, come to Australia, live here, we need the people (20 million people only here) and your expertise. You'll be happier here lol (ever heard of Aussie's kick ass wellfare system?). Bring your volvos with you too =D

Cars like the S80 were a waste to just disable like this. But the program fails to address the older cars that are getting less than posted because of wear and tear, yet are ineligible because they can get 19+ mpg when it was new.
