Fire trap, is it really that important to look after?

Thanks for that diagram. I have a little air compressor that I use for painting air brush (6 hp engine) would this enough to try blowing through the flame trap hole? What would I be looking for by doing that? Do I need to get the engine running?

I think it would be smarter to pull it out and then clean it,if you don't want to change your oil after that.

If you do like it's explained in that diagram,you'll throw all of that gunk into oil pan.

Just pull it off,clean it and put it back...or just throw it away.

Beating a dead post....does that apply to the '95 850 turbo?I am assuming I have to replace the pcv system? This 850's transmission was replaced 3 years ago...she pulled many a boat to Cape Cod....hopefully they did replace the rear main...I'm still getting slight oil leak and oil smell inside the car..don't know if the pcv was changed....my next project,along with the frt. struts....thanks...

The flame trap thing is not there but the housing that connects to the airbox hose is still there (empty housing) and the diagram provided suggests to blow a compressed air into it. Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough.

And I was bit confused...I didn't realize that blowing the compressed air is to free the crude built up in the flame trap I thought it is to clear up clogged pcv system as the diagram suggested...right?
