v50 alternator and power steering conundrum..

Post by andyleroy1 »

Hi, i am really stuck with my v50. Yesterday my alternator packed in but strangly enough i found there no power steering fliud in the reservoir...!
Are they linked..? Also i had a major service 7 weeks ago, should this have been checked and if so why has it been drained so quickly..?
The car still has a warrenty from when i brought it, so would the alternator be covered..???
Thanks for any views on my problems...

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

It depends on the type of warranty you have. Is this an insurance warranty or is it one backed by the seller?

On your service the level of the fluid would, or should, have been checked. However, if a leak has developed since the service the garage can't be held responsible. Depending on the warranty you may be covered for this.

Read your warranty documentation very carefully or contact the garage from which you bought the car, they will tell you immediately what is and isn't covered.
