05 xc90 leaking fuel
05 xc90 leaking fuel
We have been having a major issue with this car. It has been to a local European repair shop and the dealer for fuel pump issues. We just got it back after 3 weeks. It was running fine today, then the check engine light came on, again. It was low on gas, so we filled it up and the gas is dripping pretty rapidly from under the car, towards the rear on the drivers side. I am sure we have lost half of a tank and by the time it has to go back to dealers, it will be empty. I understand it has to be repaired, I am not sure of the safest way to get it back to Volvo. Can they tow it for me at their expense, since this is their mistake? Or can I put a gallon in and drive it down, or is that too dangerous. There is gas running out of our car down the street and I am not sure how to even clean it up. Help - please.

This repair can be very difficult and probably was very expensive. You didn't say which shop actually did the repair on the car. That is the shop you should be contacting before you do anything, whether it be the dealer or the Indy shop.
I could be completely wrong, but I'm gonna guess that the Indy shop did the repair. Only because I have dealt with more than a few Indy shops that have had major trouble doing this job, specifically on the 7 seater XC90. Even when they charge 8 hours of labor it still takes them longer than that. If they rushed to get it done, and then don't check after this can happen. It is much safer to tow the vehicle, but you have to contact the repair shop first.

could be your fuel pump or ur tank or a split fuel line. cleaning up the fuel try and mop it up as best as you could with a disposible mop if its a puddle in your driveway or garage and let the rest dry up. if you clean up a sufficent amount then the rest should evaporate eaisly
Check to see if yours is subject to the fuel pump recall. I replaced the fuel pump in my 03 XC90 about a year ago and they finally placed it as a recall. I have my reimbursement paperwork in (to the tune of almost $900). John
My 2004 XC90 has a strong leaking fuel smell, but no liquid leak is apparent yet (no drips under the car). How do I find out if my car is covered under the fuel pump recall?
