dash warning lights

Hi-I just got a blinking up arrow on my dash and the light by the econo/sport switch blinks as well. Also sometimes a small red light comes on and sometimes it does not. Does anyone know what either of these mean. It just happens during normal driving at random.
The car is a 93, 850 glt, automatic-non turbo.

Try rowing the shifter quickly between P and L 20 times with the engine off, and see if the arrow goes away. If not, you will have to read the codes from port A1 of the underhood diagnostics as follows: http://www.volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php. Then we will be able to help you more.

The red light is simply to indicate that there may be icy conditions on the roads. It comes on between some random number and 36 degrees outside temp.

My red dot light comes on at 36 degrees on my 99 V70. There is a snowflake image surrounding the light

That is an Ice warning light. It will always illuminate when the ambient temp sensor reads between 23 degrees F and 36 degrees F. It is basically a slick bridge warning.

I followed the excellent instructions located here on the site to remove and clean the PNP switch and now the arrow is gone and seems to be functioning properly-Thanks alot!!!!
