Hello, can anyone confirm if a 2000 V70 can display DTC codes to the owner? If I use the method originally posted by MadeInJapan, where is the indicator which flashes? Or, should I buy an OBD II reader (if so, which one?) to get the codes?
I just got my 2000 V70 back from the detailer and now the Recirc and A/C Off lights flash 20 times when the engine turns on. The climate control system seems to be working perfectly as always; even on Auto. Maybe the detailer kicked some dust into a fan or sensor? Maybe it was a one time code which needs deleting?
I'd like to diagnose this myself and maybe fix it here also. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

FireFox...sorry but I think getting the DTC's with the method I posted (I could be wrong but I don't think so) are on earlier cars and won't work for yours. If you really want to have the DTC's read on your car, I believe it's with a Volvo Scan Tool...in otherwords, the dealer.

Thanks for the confirmation. Darn, $1800 for one on eBay. But if it truely covers every model, than that'd be $450 per Volvo in my driveway.
If I check the sensors and fans (after finding them by searching this forum), would the codes clear by themselves? Or do I really need to take it to the dealer?
Thanks again.

You can check the sensor and fan and replace the parts that are bad. If you solve the problem, the codes will go out on their own and the blinking will stop.

I recently purchased a replacement ECC en Ebay for my '93 850 and I can't get the automatic control to work. Someone told me that if the ECC is from a newer 850 I need to install a jumper on one of the connectors to make the auto work. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hello hope i'm not intruding too much. but I pulled my climate control unit out last night on my 2001 s60 t5. I wanted to see the back of the radio if there were any rca's so I could hook a power amplifier up for a subwoofer./ Once I installed the unit. Several of the lights are out now and I've also got an SRS warning message on constantly. PLEASE advise,
Sincerely,
Cris

In the thread titled EEC can't maintain AUT temp control, there are posts from MIJ dated 9/24/2006 (write up on getting DTC's from your ECC/MCC on cars without the diagnostic boxes under the hood) and 9/29/2006 ('95 850 Climate Control R&R) that direct the reader to FileFactory files. Clicking on the link leads to a FileFactory page that states "Sorry this file is no longer available."
Are the files that MIJ made back in '06 available somewhere else on MVS? I think they might be helpful in working on my 1996 850s.
Many thanks.
