Duplicate key for a Volvo S80
Is there a cheap way of getting a duplicate key for a Volvo S80. Dealer is quoting me about $300 once all is said and done....

you sure? The ace by me has a big sign saying. WE DO CAR KEYS!! EVEN WITH CHIPS!!!!!cgillock wrote:All the chip does is let the engine start. You can get a key that will open doors & trunk but won't start engine from Ace hdwe.
You can go here http://www.volvowholesaleparts.com/part ... cat1=99248 to get a key cut to fit your car. They need a copy of your car's title to prove you own it. It will only open the doors, you still have to go to a Volvo dealer to get it programmed to start the car. Around here it costs $80 for programming.

Almost every Lock Smith can cut the key and program it at the same time.
Not sure how Volvo's work but to do the domestics you have to have two keys that are programed to the car to get a new key programed on the cheap side. Without two keys you can spend over $100 just for the programing. Do all Volvo S-80 cars have the chipped key?
