Keyless Remote Won't Work - But Car Starts

The keyless remote buttons (unlock, lock, panic, truck) don't work on my 2009 S40. It stopped working suddenly (got home... went to lock the car with the remote... didn't work). I replaced the battery -- no change. I can get in the car with the key blade, and then use the keyless remote/key fob to start the car. What do I need to do to fix the remote so the buttons will work. I bought the car used ... only came with one remote. Any help would be appreciated.

I just got a 2007 V50 (6 days) with only 1 fob and blade. I purchased a second set from dealer and they had to program the cars computer to it. They needed the old one too, so maybe reprogramed both and the car. Maybe yours lost its program. It has nothing to do with the chip that starts the car. Hope it helps

Yes ... I took my car in... the key fob got de-programmed some how. The Dealer reprogrammed it.
