Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
Have you checked the drive belt tension?
Bill.

Both belts are tight. I checked all the obvious I think with three exceptions: Haven't replaced all fuses, could be an ignitions switch problems since I already had to install a permanent remote starter switch, and lastly the instrument cluster itself. Weather permitting I'll dive into these issues again. Thanks for reponding, Bill!

Can you give more information? Does your car start and run and just not hold a charge or does it not start at all? Do the gauge lights ever come on and go off or are then dead all the time? Just describe a little more so we can give a better answer.
Thanks
Thanks

sounds like the printed circuit board behind the gauges has failed.
this can cause no charging of the battery and the classic 740/760 fuel gauge not working after checking and changing everything.
this is made by yazaki in japan and the soldering has long been known to start disintegrating in older cars, causing no abs, erratic or no fuel/temperature gauges.
i recently acquired a new one from a swedish classic volvo dealer one in gothenburg, and it solved my missing abs light and no fuel gauge on my 1990 volvo 760 gle turbo diesel estate.
