I had a request for some close up photos of the timing marks that are on the pulley for the cambelt - located on the crankshaft .
Luckily, a good friend stopped over tonight and we needed to remove the harmonic balancer anyway.
These are close ups when I removed the pulley. These are the marks you place on both sides of the timing mark on the engine block to set the cam timing.

So it is a tiny little mark on the crank and why is there two ? is that one for economy and one for high power? I think Ozark Lee mentioned something about that in a previous post

Hello JDS60R, Do you know which program is needed to open your pictures file? My old machine tried but couldn't do it. Thanks, Kira

I had to put them in a word document. microsoft word is opening them on my machine.
The two marks on the pulley go (one on each side) of the pointer that is cast in the block. When you look down at the crank and theya re lined up you will see one mark on each side of the pointer. Do not move them to either side (two on one side) as you valve timing will be off.

I will put them up in pdf format
If you look straight down from the two marks you can see one extruded mark (lump) just next to the cam drive. This lump lines up with the pointer on the block.
So the marks will be right next to the blocks pointer but the lump will be straight across from it. I mentioned the lum as its easier to see than the little cuts that Volvo always refers to.

Don't miss this important info from Ozark . There are other types of pulleys- All rely on lining up the mark or marks correctly.
make sure to use the correct advise for each type .
2 notches = 1 on either side of the block pointer
1 notch = Line up with block pointer

JDS60R has excellent pictures. There are two variations of the marks though. Other than the dual notch setup like JDS60R shows, my cars have a version where there is a single mark in the valley on the sprocket rather than on adjacent peaks. It is the same microscopic V notch and if you have that version it should be lined up on the timing mark that is on the block.
