And yeah, old Saabs have a lot of finicky electricals and the vacuum sys is even worse, but they have an excuse: LUCAS

Well all my electrical/electronics experience couldn't have fixed the taillight I guess. I tested everything I could find, and could only see that the bulb wasn't getting juice - ground was good.

So I exited the car and shut the rear door. Whattyaknow?! It came on. The spade connector seems to have been loose. I tightened it and pressed it in real tight and now it works! Huzzah, one issue down and now I don't have to see that dang "bulb out" warning light.

So, never attribute to malfunction what can be explained by disconnection?

That's how I figured out the bad fuel pump in my old 96 GLT, by the way; I fiddled with fuses, wiggled wires, and cursed for about 1/2 an hour before slamming the trunk in frustration, and the damn thing started up on the next try.

In my day job, we call that "percussive maintenance."

Quick update - I picked up a used (but very fresh) SAS pump from a Clister yesterday, gonna install it tonight. Hopefully that'll clear my CEL as my emissions are due tomorrow. BTW, if you're in the Denver/Springs area, this guy has some good used parts (I'll post the ad in the buy/sell section).

Also, I have a newfound appreciation for the car. It may not accelerate like a beast, but good lord the thing can corner! I took the I-25 twisties at 75 last night and the thing just hugged the road like some sort of performance machine. On Tiger-Paws nonetheless.

Update - installed the new pump, no check engine light, no codes pending, passed emissions with flying colors

So, a couple of questions that arised - is there a way to adjust the seat back of the passenger (non-power) seat? all I can seem to do is rock the entire seat back and forth

How do you set the power seat memory?

Is there a writeup somewhere about what parts actually do fail on the ABS module? I'm kinda good with electronic soldering/repair (it's what I do) and I'd like to attempt fixing it myself - for some reason the search feature isn't working for me right now :sadface:

Not a truely awful first repair, is it? I think that was my first big job on my car too shortly after buying it.

I don't recall how to set the power seat memory...it's been so long since I've done it I just hit '1' after my girlfriend drives my car. I think you press 'memory' and then the setting you want to store it to.

My passenger seat is power too, so I can't tell you how to go about doing that
