How can i turn off the abs and trac warning lihhts on the dash.
thay are on constantly.
What in fact are they warning me of and what is needed to fix ?

Possibly a faulty ABS. There are a number of posts on ABS options including,
repair, repair with rebuilt, replace with OEM. If you are at all handy you can even repair yourself from info on this link.

Either you have a loose or dirty ABS sensor or you need to rebuild the ABS module. Most likely it's the module since all 1996+ modules go bad eventually.
