V70 T5 2001 SUNROOF/LIGHTS OVERHEAD NO POWER

I NEVER TESTED MY SUN ROOF OR OVERHEAD LIGHTS IN MY V70 T5 WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. SEEING HOW ITS WINTER IN MONTANA, AT NEGATIVE 15 DEGREES I PROBABLY WOULDN’T BE USING IT FOR A WHILE. AND THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS WORK FINE WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOORS OR THE TAILGATE. IT WAS ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT THAT I FIRST TRIED TO USE THE OVER HEAD LIGHTS AND NOTHING HAPPENED. NEITHER OF THE LIGHT BUTTONS DO ANYTHING OR THE SUNROOF BUTTONS. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE CHECKED THE FUSES AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM, ONCE HE PLUGGED IN HIS DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER THOUGH, IT WORKED JUST FINE. THE LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN YOU PUSHED THE BUTTON AND THE SUNROOF FUNCTIONED NORMALY. BUT AFTER HE WOULD UNPLUG THE COMPUTER, EVERYTHING STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. HE SAID IT MIGHT BE SOME KIND OF CONTROL MODULE GONE BAD. IVE LOOKED FOR ANYTHING TO HELP ME FIX THE PROBLEM WITH OUT BREAKING MY BANK AND I CANT FIND ANYTHING. SO IF YOU COULD HELP I WOULD APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH!

Put your key into the drivers door lock and lock/unlock the car 3 times.
That can help the UEM (upper electronic module-controls the sunroof, alarm etc)

MY ALARM WORKS FINE...AND I TRIED THE KEY THINGY...NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES I GAVE UP AND CAME INSIDE FROM THE NEGATIVE 10 DEGREE WEATHER! ANY OTHER ADVICE... I KNOW IT WAS SOME KIND OF MODULE, THAT IS BAD AND NOT LETTING ANY POWER THROUGH TO THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE....WHAT PART WOULD I BUY FOR THAT????? I HAVE NO CLUE, IVE LOOKED THROUGH ALL THE FORUMS AND EVERYTHING!

My guess would be that all of your warning light/electrical issues are related and could/can be traced to a common source. I would think if you had one of your control modules failing the car at some point would store a code and the mechanic should be able to pick it up.

Personally I have no experience with any issues like you are experiencing, but I have read several similar threads in the past and many of them went back to; a bad battery, weak alternator or bad voltage regulator. New batteries can be bad, alternators can be checked at most any parts house or garage and I don't have any idea how to test the voltage regulator, but at worst its a fairly inexpensive part and might be worth a stab in the dark if all else fails. Also many state to check the alternator with the car hot or at operating temperature, it may be more likely to show weakness in this state. I don't know if there is any credence to this or not.
