Rear Brake Shims
Are the rear brake shims available from auto parts stores or only from Volvo? My rear brakes squeal, and the brakes were replaced right before I bought the car. I bought some of the "goop" you put on the pads, and it helped a little but not much.

You may be able to get Autozone to special order something like that, but I would highly recommend going with the OEM Volvo shims. They're around $5 each even at the dealer. The part number you'll want is 1359772. Make sure upon reassembly that you use plenty of the anti-squeal grease all over the backing plate also.
