1999 S80 Oil Filter change

Post by bpvolvo »

Going to do first oil change on used '99 I just bought only to find it's a plastic casing with paper filter.

Does anyone sell a regular filter replacement/adaptor or is this it?

:? S80 uses a cartridge oil filter only. You just replace the filter material.

I have a 2000 s80 and i'm assuming it's the same as a 1999. An oil change is pretty straight forward and is generally the same as any other vehicle, except for the cartridge type oil filter. Simply unscrew it like a standard filter using a standard filter wrench and insert the cartridge and screw it back on. Make sure you install the new gasket that comes with the filter. I got the filter at Napa and I think it was around five bucks. I have a set of ramps I drive tha car on to get some room to work underneath. I used a synthetic motor oil and plan on changing it at 5000 mile intervals. Changing the oil isn't the big deal the dealers like to have you think.

I got the part to take off the cap on ebay for $15
and I get the filter at any auto store. It's awesome!
