Volvo 122s 1967 seatbelts
Volvo 122s 1967 seatbelts
Hi everyone.. I just found this site and am new here.. I recently bought a 1967 122s that has been painted with new interior that needs to be completed.. The only rust was in the floor pan in the back seat.. My brother-in-law made a great job of repairing it so that is done.. There are still a few other things to do but I am waiting on some used parts to come,, along with a new rubber kit for the doors and windows.. My question is.. did the 67 have rear seat belts or were they an option?? I did not see any anchors for belts in the back seat area.. I used to have a 1963 and a 1966 back in the early 70 s but I do not remember rear seat belts.. This also has a B 20 engine..Is that the right engine for this car?? My 63 has a B 18 and I am sure my 66 had a B 20 .. I love these old guys

Rear seat belts were an option, lap only.
The B18 engine was the only choice. Consider yourself lucky to have a more modern B20 with higher torque and bhp.

Thanks for the info.. When we lifted the carpet in the back seat area,, I did see bolt holes on the sides where seat belts may have been attached if the car ever had any... I installed a couple of lap belts because my wife would probably never let anyone ride in the back without a belt.. I did have an old 1966 back in the 70s and I am certain that had a B 20 motor.. Maybe that was installed later too,do not know..
I have one more question regarding the front seat belts in my 1967 Volvo 122s.. I am trying to figure out where the bottom anchor is for the front shoulder seat belt... I cannot find anything near the floor directly below the top anchor where you would think it would be... The only thing I can see is on the side of the seat that could be used as an anchor.. These are not 122 seats in this car but from a later model of volvo.. The car had new carpet put in before I got it so I would rather not rip the carpet up to look for a bolt hole.. Thanks for any help!!!!

The bolt hole for the belt is about 3/4 inch below the vinyl, through the carpet, on the door post. Nothing is ever bolted to the seat. I believe the bolt is the same size at the one that attaches to the center tunnel.
You could use a pick to probe through the carpet...
