1994 850 Turbo Wagon Transmission slow to engage

My 1994 Turbo 850 Wagon transmission has the Up Arrow on the dash but I don't see the check engine light on. Is there a preferred check list of most probable failures and debugging procedures available?

Welcome to MVS,

You can read error codes from the on board diagnostic boxes. Read the codes from port A-1 and post them back. If you have not used the diagnostic ports before there is how they work.

The directions refer to port A-2 which is for the engine. Port A-1 works exactly the same way but it interrogates the transmission rather than the engine.

Maybe the transmission is in Winter Mode?
