Brake Light relay location 2001 S 80

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Brake Light relay location 2001 S 80

Post by Erikinstockholm »

Brake Light Relay Location? Where is it in the Trunk Fuse box?

I have a N. American 2001 S 80. Both brake lights are out but the third (Center) works. Checked both fuse boxes. I read that it could be two bad relays located on the Fuse Box in Trunk on left side. Which Relay(s) control these two brake lights. I have new relays from Volvo but they will not tell me. Any help would be Fantastic!

Thanks Erik

Bill,
Thanks for the info on the relay positions and functions.
I spent days trying to find this out on the Internet with very little
success. The most important bit of info I found out was the part
number (9441161) of the relay. This part stopped being used by
Volvo in new cars (2004). However, dealers have a supply for less
than $20. Other sources are also available, search Google using the
part number.

From the PDF posted, it appears that there is a manual
created by Volvo that details the parts and places of the 2001 S80.

Is that manual available to all people?

It appears that there are many chances to buy something that says
it will provide answers, but no samples are given as proof.

Is there a web site that can provide detailed information about
Volvo cars?
Thanks again

celtictrees, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The information came from a publication that I acquired some time ago from a friendly Volvo technician.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your info. I found the relay and switched the back seat head strain relay for the brake light relay and my problem was solved for my 2001 S60. :D

Excellent post that shows the relay locations. I hope this post is saved to the repair section.
