First, I apologize about the downtime. I know that trying to get to this or any site and not getting a response is a big frustration.
Second, I'm working on it every day. Why can't I just fix it quickly? Because it's unfortunately a twelve-headed hydra of complexities. There are literally dozens of variables to adjust and figure in to the equation.
Third, I'm not a server admin, I'm (much) more a developer. But the knowledge of how to do this stuff is invaluable to me moving forward because the two disciplines are related.
I could double the server memory and take the easy way out, but now that I've taken this on, I want to see it through. This site is not too big for the server, I just need to make the various pieces work together. A downside of the new design and functionality that is MVS 5 is that it's about 20% more resource hungry, thus the recent rash of downtimes.
So, I want you to know this is not only of high importance to me, but actually my Job #1 these days.
If you're a webserver admin (LAMP) with experience balancing the needs of Apache and MySQL, and want to help, please send me a PM or email.
Thanks
Matt

Hey Matt hang in there.
I would not worry about the downtime. We (the members) can handle it as long as you don't give up. Most people should understand the complexities of running a site of this high caliber. We should all understand all the bugs and problems associated with a "new" site. I applaud you and all the others working on this and everyones input to help fix and maintain our cars. Matt don't give we are behind you. If I had the knowledge I would help you - but I don't - sorry. I do like the new setup
THANKS
Jim

Matt,
I agree with coustyj. This forum has less downtime than others I visit and no-one on those forums is trying to make the improvements you are.
As I have said before I am in total awe of your computing skills. If I was half as good I would help but when downtime does strike I just wander off into the world of the internet knowing that you will have it sorted as quickly as you can.
Keep up the good work and forget the sackcloth and ashes because you have plenty of support from the members.
Bill.
