Please Help Power steering leak

Ive got a 99 V70 XC turbo that has a power steering leak, the leak appears to be coming from where the coloum meets the rack? How do I fix this, it appears to be a very tight area.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the only way to fix a leak is to rebuild the steering rack or replace it with a new/rebuilt one. Although OzarkLee, I think, was able to stop a leak by pouring some of that anti leaking stuff into the reservoir.

I'm not sure where mine was leaking but I used Valvoline MaxLife Automatic Transmission Stop Leak on mine and it has not leaked a drop since. I sucked out all of the old fluid, refilled it with the stop leak, ran the steering from lock to lock several times with the car idling. Sucked it out and refilled again. It takes 3 or 4 iterations of the drain and refill to essentially flush the system.

I have heard very good things about the Lucas products as well but I have not used their similar product.

If that doesn't work you are likely best off just replacing the rack but it is a big job. The rebuilt racks that FCP Groton sells have a very good reputation.

..I bet your universal joint starts to seize up. Open the rubber around the steering column from inside the car, then you can reach the joint, disconect it, use WD40 and start moving it until (if you are lucky) it moves freely again.

You can't.
Replace with a rebuilt rack from FCP Groton.
You put additive in there and it will work for a whil,e then eventually completely destroy the rack

Well I've been waiting 6years for the Lucas stuff to destroy my rack....still doesn't lose a drop, i reckon I'm way in front.
