98 V70R - Oil thermostat and oil cooler hoses

Post by scoobycant »

I''m planning to ring in spring with new oil cooler hoses. Neither are leaking but @162k I feel I'm pressing my luck. My question has to do with the oil thermostat. How/when/why do oil thermostats fail? Should I plan on replacing the oil thermostat? I will be removing the existing one anyway in order to replace the hoses. I have changed engine the oil every 3k with Mobil 1. No oil consumption, no smoke, original engine seals, 2 in w.c. vacuum at dipstick with original pcv components. Thanks in advance.
