xc70 2001 text message light is out

The part of the dash that display the text messages appear to be out and hard to read, is there a procedure to repair or replacement is needed.

Did you solve your issue? I've got the same problem but on an S80. It began with not displaying remaining "miles before empty tank" and has progressed to no display at all. Dealer recommended aftermarket fuel gauge vs. repair when it was just the fuel display issue as a cheaper route. What has been your experiences?
