Hi
Our Volvo has 74K miles and the engine light is on. The code is PO 128. We got the Thermostat (twice) and ECT sensor replaced ($332.07)
Went back to Irvine Volvo to get the Engine light reset ($142.92) and shortly after leaving the dealership the Engine light came back on.
Now 'Power Volvo Irvine' wants $288.92 to diagnose 'why the car doesn't have an eligible upgrade' and is suggesting that it might be the control module (about $1500).
The car runs fine but we need to get a smog check.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have the same problem. Help too. It is tthat the car runs at a lower temperature can normal. check the ant-freeze, the thermostat, and ect. They say it can be the voltabe getting to the ECT is not 12 volts. Check the fans too, that they are not on all the time.
Tomorrow I am going to review this problem, and redo everything.
Is the thermostat rated at 192 F.
Get back with me to see if you solve the problem. And I solve the problem I will post it!!???

There is a soft ware up date that loosens up the parameters for this code. It was made with extreme cold weather climates in mind. That is if ur car is operating between 90 and 105 degrees Celsius it will work for your situation .
